Crisis Prevention and Management

Crises can be prevented, planned for and effectively managed.
In business a crisis is defined as: ‘a major, unpredictable event that threatens to harm an organisation and its stakeholders.’ The UK’s Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (2008), describes a crisis as:

…an abnormal situation, or even perception, which is beyond the scope of everyday business and which threatens the operation, safety and reputation of an organisation.

Crises are not predictable but they should be expected and therefore planned for.
Make crisis management planning part of your business planning. Have a crisis focus group working out the enhanced disciplines required in emergencies. Rehearse scenarios with various teams using different crises. Be prepared. Think about continuity planning, the opportunities to be gained in crisis, the communication strategy and the mop up afterwards. We can help with these.
